United Cities Internship Program

Projects

Green Bridges Summit (Completed)

On 10 and 11 November 2023, we welcome the residents of Kristiansund to Green Bridges - an exciting event about sustainability. With the UN's sustainability goals in focus, we want to involve the city's residents as well as local stakeholders in the private and public sector. Our goal is to make use of the resources in the local community and create commitment to sustainability in Kristiansund and Møre og Romsdal in general. With the help of knowledge-based facts, active participation and collaboration, we will strengthen efforts for the sustainability goals with the greatest improvement potential locally. Over two days, the event will offer public discussions, interactive knowledge sharing and fun activities aimed at the whole family. The project also has a secondary ambition to develop a framework and methodology for event design that can be adapted for the rapid development of events, both physical and hybrid, in communities around the world."

CREST

CREST is an EU-funded project with the aim of assisting vulnerable urban municipalities in the development of robust and resistant adaptations to climate change. Central to the project is the user nav digital twins (snl.no), described as a virtual representation of a physical reality. In this case, work is being done with digital twins of 3 European coastal municipalities, which together with local research institutions, technology developers and consulting companies make up the partners in the project. You can read more about the project here.

Climate Budgetting

Climate Budget (the project) aims to help municipalities in Møre and Romsdal reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Our role is to come up with proposals for how municipalities can prepare and develop climate budgets to promote sustainable development.

Next generation of leaders: Our international internship program

In autumn 2022, the first batch of interns started in Norway. Young people from different backgrounds spend 10 months together. What they have in common is the desire to contribute to a sustainable future.

Emphasis on SDG 11

The program builds ambassadors for Sustainable Development Goal 11 on cities and local communities. The academic program is developed by United Cities, while the program solves practical tasks for local communities in the host county of Møre og Romsdal.

Two types of learning objectives

Through the program, participants learn about methods and tools, including United Cities' holistic methods for sustainable urban development. In addition, the participants carry out projects in collaboration with both the public and private sector to translate methods into concrete results.

A Modern Campus
